Comment on noteThe wine
Imagine yourself, in the heart of Tuscany, where the sun caresses the vines with a particular intensity. This Brunello di Montalcino 2017 from La Palazzetta is an invitation to that sensory journey, an authentic expression of the Montalcino terroir.
The La Palazzetta estate, nestled in Castelnuovo dell'Abate, is the guardian of a centuries-old tradition. Here, Sangiovese Grosso, the sole grape variety of this DOCG appellation, is cultivated with meticulous care. I know that the harvest is done by hand, a guarantee of quality and respect for the fruit.
You will recognize this wine by its ruby red color, tending toward garnet, a promise of fine maturity. On the nose, I perceive an intense and enveloping bouquet, where the fruity notes of blackberry and blueberry subtly mingle with touches of chocolate. On the palate, it is a powerful red, endowed with a full body, beautiful acidity and present tannins. The alcoholic fermentation, carried out in steel vats with indigenous yeasts and a prolonged maceration of about 20 days, followed by malolactic fermentation, contributes to this complexity. Its aging of 3.5 years in French oak barrels, followed by six months of refinement in the bottle, gives it a long and persistent finish.
To fully appreciate this Brunello di Montalcino, I suggest serving it between 16 and 18°C in a large glass. It pairs wonderfully with robust dishes: think of red meats, flavorful roasts, cacciagione and aged cheeses. It is a wine that calls for conviviality, perfect for a dinner among friends or a special occasion where you wish to make an impression. It is good right now, but you can also let it age for 5 to 7 years to discover other facets of its character.
