Comment on noteThe wine
Imagine yourself in the heart of Tuscany, where the sun caresses the hills and every sip of wine tells a story. Today, I'm taking you to discover a Rosso di Montalcino that perfectly embodies the spirit of this land, a vibrant expression of Sangiovese.
This wine comes from the La Palazzetta estate, nestled in the Castelnuovo dell'Abate production zone, within the famous Rosso di Montalcino DOC appellation. Sangiovese, the sole grape variety of this wine, is carefully cultivated, and the grapes, from the estate's youngest vines, are rigorously selected at harvest. Alcoholic fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks, a method that preserves the purity of the fruit.
After this first stage, the wine is aged for 14 months in 5-hectoliter French oak casks, then it benefits from an additional 4 months of refinement. The 2020 vintage you are about to taste reveals itself in the glass with an intense ruby red color, dotted with purplish highlights. On the nose, you will be charmed by an ample and fresh bouquet, where fruity notes of cherry mingle with floral aromas of violet and red berries. On the palate, this Rosso di Montalcino offers an elegant character and a full body, supported by beautiful acidity and soft tannins of a pleasing texture. The finish is enveloping, long and persistent, a true invitation to pleasure.
To fully appreciate this Rosso di Montalcino, I recommend serving it between 16 and 18°C in a large glass. It will pair wonderfully with red meats, roasts and game, highlighting their flavors without overpowering them. Cured meats and aged cheeses will also find in it a choice ally. This wine is not only delicious right now, but it also has interesting aging potential, able to evolve favorably for 5 to 10 years. It is the ideal companion for a convivial dinner among friends or an evening exploring Tuscan flavors.
