Comment on noteThe wine
Let me guide you toward an experience that transcends simple tasting: the Brunello di Montalcino Riserva Sant'Antimo from La Poderina. It's not just a wine, it's an evocation, a liquid story of the Tuscan hills awaiting you.
Located in the heart of the prestigious Montalcino appellation, the La Poderina estate enjoys a privileged location. Its historic vineyards stretch out right in front of the iconic Abbey of Sant'Antimo, a monument that inspired the name of this Riserva cuvée. It is from these parcels, selected for their excellence and only in the best years, that the Sangiovese Grosso grapes composing this exceptional wine are born.
The vinification of this Brunello is a precise art. After meticulous manual harvesting, fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks (24°-28°C), with daily punch-downs and rack-and-returns to best extract the aromas and color. A long post-fermentation maceration at 29°C further refines this extraction. The wine is then transferred into French oak barrels where it undergoes weekly bâtonnage for about five months, before continuing its aging for nineteen additional months, for a total aging of at least five years, two of which in wood, as required by the appellation.
To the eye, this Brunello Riserva displays a deep and intense color, a promise of beautiful concentration. On the nose, you will discover a complex and captivating bouquet, where aromas of ripe red fruits blend harmoniously with spicy, leather and tobacco notes. It is an invitation to discovery, a prelude to tasting. On the palate, the wine reveals all its power and elegance. It offers a remarkable structure, silky tannins and a persistent length, leaving a memorable imprint. Each sip is an exploration of the richness of Sangiovese Grosso, sublimated by its aging.
This Brunello di Montalcino Riserva Sant'Antimo is the dream partner for the most refined dishes. Imagine it alongside grilled or sauced red meats, flavorful game or a platter of aged cheeses. It will elevate these dishes with its complexity and structure. It is the wine you open for great occasions, dinners among friends where conversations linger, or simply for a moment of pure indulgence. Let yourself be tempted by this Tuscan gem, a bottle that will transport you straight to the heart of Montalcino.
