Comment on noteThe wine
I invite you to discover a gem, a vibrant expression of Tuscany that I had the privilege of tasting. This Brunello di Montalcino is not just a wine, it's a story, a sensory journey to the heart of Italy.
We are in Montalcino, a blessed land where Sangiovese Grosso reigns supreme. The Pieve Santa Restituta estate, owned by the Gaja family, is a name that resonates with prestige. Here, every bunch is cultivated with meticulous care, in keeping with a centuries-old tradition that has made this DOCG appellation famous.
This 2021 Brunello is the fruit of careful winemaking. Fermentation takes place in stainless steel tanks, followed by a long maceration that extracts all the richness of the grape. Then comes the crucial aging stage: a minimum of five years, partly in oak barrels, so that the wine can develop its structure and complexity. To the eye, its color is a deep garnet red, inviting contemplation. On the nose, it's a symphony: intense notes of ripe red fruits, undergrowth, and a delicate spicy touch, enhanced by aromas of tobacco and vanilla. On the palate, it reveals perfect harmony, an enveloping elegance, with silky tannins and a persistent freshness that promises beautiful evolution over the years.
Imagine this wine on your table, accompanying a dish with character. I highly recommend it with grilled red meats, a succulent roast, or even a braised game dish. For cheese lovers, it will wonderfully enhance an aged Parmigiano Reggiano or a Pecorino Stagionato. It's the ideal companion for a special occasion, a dinner among friends where conversations linger, or simply for a moment of pure pleasure, where you take the time to savor each sip and let yourself be carried away by the spirit of Tuscany.
