Comment on noteThe wine
Imagine for a moment Tuscany, its gentle hills and its sun-drenched vineyards. It is there, in the heart of Montalcino, that I discovered a gem that perfectly embodies the spirit of this land: the Brunello di Montalcino 2007 from Folonari. This wine is not just a drink, it is a story, a sensory journey.
This Brunello comes to us from Tenuta La Fuga, an estate located southwest of Montalcino, in the locality of Camigliano. It is here that Sangiovese, the region's unique and emblematic grape variety, expresses itself in all its splendor. This 2007 vintage is the result of careful winemaking, where the grapes ferment in stainless steel vats at 28°C, with maceration on the skins for about twenty days, allowing the extraction of all the aromatic and structural richness of the fruit.
In your glass, you will first be seduced by its deep, intense ruby color. On the nose, this Brunello invites you on a complex journey: you will perceive aromas of red and black fruits, spicy notes, a touch of tobacco and leather, and even delicate floral nuances. On the palate, it reveals a beautiful structure and remarkable balance. The tannins are present but perfectly integrated, offering a dense texture and depth without excess. You will feel a harmonious balance between freshness and warmth, culminating in a persistent finish that will invite you to another tasting.
To fully appreciate this Brunello, I recommend serving it at around 18°C, and opening it a little in advance so that it can fully express itself. It will be an ideal companion for rich and flavorful dishes. Imagine it alongside an "anatra in porchetta con semi di finocchio selvatico" – a duck stuffed with wild fennel seeds, a sublime pairing. It will also pair wonderfully with red meats, game, elaborate stews or aged cheeses. This wine still has good aging potential, but it is already ready to bring you great pleasure right now. Let yourself be tempted by this authentic Tuscan experience.
