Comment on noteThe wine
Imagine for a moment Tuscany, its gentle hills and its vineyards bathed in sunshine. It is there, in the heart of Montalcino, that I discovered a gem that perfectly embodies the elegance and tradition of this land: the Brunello di Montalcino from the Podere Brizio estate. This wine is not just a drink, it is an invitation to travel.
The Podere Brizio estate, nestled in the emblematic landscapes of Montalcino, is an example of expertise. Here, the king grape variety is Sangiovese Grosso, cultivated with particular care on soils rich in galestro, benefiting from an ideal exposure that shapes its unique character. The 2019 vintage, which I had the pleasure of tasting, is the fruit of this alchemy between terroir and tradition. Its vinification, with fermentation in steel tanks and a long maceration, is designed to extract the best from these precious clusters.
From the very first glance, its intense ruby red color, dotted with garnet highlights, promises a deep experience. On the nose, a complex bouquet unfolds before you: notes of ripe red fruits, such as cherry and plum, blend harmoniously with more sophisticated touches of tobacco, chocolate and delicate spices, notably vanilla and black pepper, with a hint of balsamic notes that add to its complexity. On the palate, this Brunello reveals a full body and a balanced structure. The tannins are silky, and the finish, long and persistent, leaves a pleasantly spicy aftertaste, a true caress for the taste buds.
This Brunello di Montalcino from Podere Brizio is an ideal companion for rich and structured dishes. I highly recommend it with red meat roasts, game or aged cheeses. Picture it on your table during a refined dinner or to celebrate a special occasion. Its aging capacity, at least five years, including two in oak barrels, will allow you to rediscover it over time, revealing new facets of its character. It is a wine to be savored, to be shared, and that tells a story, that of authentic Tuscany.
