Comment on noteThe wine
Today I invite you to a discovery that shakes up preconceived ideas about Tuscany, often associated with its powerful reds. This Bruniche Chardonnay from the Tenuta di Nozzole is a gem, a luminous and unexpected expression of the Tuscan terroir, which will surprise you with its freshness and elegance. It is an open door onto another facet of this region I love so much.
Nestled in the heart of Chianti Classico, in Greve in Chianti, the Folonari estate, through its Tenuta di Nozzole, is a historic and respected player in Tuscan viticulture. While their reputation was built on emblematic Sangiovese wines, their foray into the world of Chardonnay, with this Bruniche, demonstrates a desire to explore and enhance the diversity of their terroir. This wine is made 100% from Chardonnay grapes, carefully cultivated in this land blessed by the gods.
From the very first glance, its pale straw-yellow color, dotted with luminous highlights, seduces you. On the nose, I perceive a discreet but precise bouquet, where apple and pear mingle with citrus notes, leaning toward citron, and a floral touch of white flowers. On the palate, balance is what prevails. A beautiful freshness, a clean texture and a finale of moderate persistence make it a wine of great drinkability. It is vinified in white, with static cold settling, and ferments at 18°C. Its aging on the lees for about six months, followed by at least two months of bottle refinement, gives it this finesse and this discreet complexity.
This Bruniche Chardonnay is the ideal companion for your moments of sharing. I recommend it with seafood antipasti, crustaceans, or a seafood salad. It also pairs wonderfully with a baccalà salato con patate, capperi e pomodori ripieni, a pairing I personally found sublime. Its freshness also allows it to elevate delicate white meats or fresh cheeses. Serve it between 8 and 10°C in glasses that are not too wide to appreciate all its nuances. It is a wine to be enjoyed in its youth to fully savor its liveliness and aroma, perfect for informal occasions and everyday meals where purity of taste reigns supreme.
