Comment on noteThe wine
Imagine yourself in the heart of Tuscany, under the generous sun, with a glass of this wine in hand. It is an invitation to freshness, a delightful escape amid the hills. This is not just a wine, it is a story, a suspended moment.
Vernaccia di San Gimignano DOCG is an emblematic appellation of Tuscany, and the Serristori estate is a proud representative of it. Nestled in the San Gimignano region, this estate perpetuates a winemaking tradition rooted in history. The Vernaccia grape, unique to this land, is cultivated here with care, giving rise to a wine that expresses all the richness of its terroir. Vinification takes place in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks, a method that preserves the purity of the aromas and the liveliness of the fruit. Aging is brief, also in steel or neutral wood, to retain all its freshness.
From the very first glance, you will be seduced by its brilliant straw-yellow color. On the nose, this wine reveals a delicate and recognizable aromatic bouquet. I perceive floral notes, like white flowers, and fruity touches evoking lemongrass. A slight herbaceous touch adds complexity, while a subtle almond bitterness and a discreet minerality perfect the whole without ever overloading it. On the palate, this white reveals itself as slender and lively. The acidity is just sharp enough to offer a clean and refreshing tasting. Its structure is balanced, and its length on the palate is most pleasant, leaving a sensation of cleanliness and liveliness.
This wine is a true culinary chameleon. It is perfect as an aperitif, but it also finds its place at the table with elegance. I recommend it with light antipasti, fresh seafood, a delicately prepared baked fish, or even light fish soups. It also pairs very well with fresh cheeses or mild blue cheeses. Serve it rather chilled, in a generous glass that will allow all its aromas to express themselves fully. It is a wine of character, flavorful without being overpowering, easy to drink and remarkably versatile. A discovery you will not regret.
