Comment on noteThe wine
I invite you to discover a Tuscan treasure that is often little known, Vernaccia di San Gimignano. This white wine, made from a single grape variety, is a pure expression of its terroir, offering a freshness and elegance that surprise and delight.
This wine was born in the heart of Tuscany, in the historic region of San Gimignano, on the Melini estate. Vernaccia di San Gimignano was the first Italian wine to obtain DOC status in 1966, and later DOCG, which testifies to its importance and recognized quality. The "Le Grillane" vineyards thrive on specific lands, benefiting from a microclimate and soil that give the wine its distinctive notes. The Vernaccia grape variety is vinified here with care, through fermentation in temperature-controlled steel tanks, followed by a brief period in steel and a few months in the bottle.
To the eye, you will be seduced by its brilliant straw-yellow color, animated by greenish highlights, a promise of liveliness. On the nose, this Vernaccia offers an elegant and complex bouquet: you will perceive notes of white-fleshed fruits such as apple and pear, floral accents, and a slight minerality, a reflection of the rich terroir of San Gimignano. Touches of almond and aromatic herbs complete this olfactory palette, inviting tasting. On the palate, "Le Grillane" stands out for its balance and harmony. The well-integrated acidity supports fruity and floral flavors, bringing a pleasant freshness and a long finish. Its characteristic minerality blends with delicate notes of bitterness on the finish, the signature of the Vernaccia grape.
To accompany it, I suggest serving it with light antipasti, fish or seafood dishes. It also pairs very well with fresh cheeses or white meats. It is also an excellent choice as an aperitif, as its freshness stimulates the palate and ideally prepares it for the meal. Let yourself be carried away by this wine that embodies the authenticity and refinement of Tuscany.
