Comment on noteThe wine
Imagine yourself in the heart of Tuscany, where the sun caresses the hills and every stone tells a story. Today, I'm taking you to discover a wine that embodies this very essence: the Brunello di Montalcino from Tenuta Pian delle Vigne, signed Marchesi Antinori. It is an encounter with elegance and depth, an invitation to savor time.
The Pian delle Vigne estate, nestled on the outskirts of Montalcino, is the stage where this Brunello expresses itself. It is here, on these blessed lands, that Sangiovese reigns as absolute master, the sole grape variety of this exceptional wine. The Antinori house, with its centuries-old history, has succeeded in instilling its vision there, combining tradition and precision to create a wine that faithfully reflects its terroir.
At first glance, its color seduces you with its deep red, a promise of beautiful concentration. On the nose, a sensory journey begins: you perceive notes of loquat and yellow flowers, then blood orange blends with tobacco, before giving way to ripe red fruits and a delicate spicy touch. On the palate, this 2020 vintage reveals itself balanced and persistent. The tannins, well present, are polished, offering a clean structure without ever weighing down the palate. You will appreciate this harmonious progression, where freshness and warmth subtly intertwine. The vinification, with precise destemming, fermentation in steel tanks and maceration of about twelve days, prepares the wine for long aging. It then spends two years in large casks of 30 to 80 hectoliters, followed by bottle refinement, allowing it to develop its full complexity.
This Brunello di Montalcino is an ideal companion for moments of sharing and convivial meals. I recommend it with red meats, flavorful game or slow-simmered braised dishes. It also pairs wonderfully with aged cheeses, where its complex notes will enhance the flavors. It is a wine that calls for patience, capable of evolving beautifully over time, but which already reveals itself in all its splendor. It is perfect for a special occasion, a tasting among friends, or simply to treat yourself, savoring each sip as a privileged moment.
