Comment on noteThe wine
Today I invite you to discover a Chianti Classico that embodies restraint and elegance. This wine, from the 2022 vintage, is an authentic expression of its terroir, offering a harmonious balance between fruit and spice, without ever tipping into exuberance.
Nestled in the heart of Greve in Chianti, the Nozzole estate, owned by Folonari, is a historic player in this emblematic appellation. This Chianti Classico is made from 100% Sangiovese, the king grape variety of Tuscany, which finds here one of its purest expressions. Vinification takes place in steel tanks, with a maceration of about four weeks, allowing a gentle extraction of aromas and tannins. Aging, meanwhile, extends over 20 months, combining large casks, barriques and steel, an approach aimed at preserving the freshness of the fruit while bringing complexity and structure.
To the eye, this wine displays a ruby robe of medium intensity, announcing a tasting full of finesse. On the nose, I perceive a floral and fruity profile, with distinct notes of orange zest and candied orange, accompanied by a delicate touch of spices that brings depth. On the palate, it reveals a medium body, supported by present but perfectly integrated tannins, and a vibrant acidity that prolongs the pleasure. The finish is persistent, without being overwhelming, leaving an impression of freshness and harmony.
This Chianti Classico is an ideal companion for the table. I highly recommend it with an authentic Bistecca alla Fiorentina, whose richness will be magnificently balanced by the wine's acidity. It will also pair wonderfully with fagioli zolfini, arrosti (roasts) or a selection of Tuscan salumi. It will also accompany hard cheeses and medium-bodied dishes. Serve it between 16 and 18°C, and don't hesitate to decant it briefly to soften its contours and enhance its aromas in a tulip glass. It's a Chianti Classico that offers appreciable versatility, perfect for a convivial meal or for exploring the flavors of Tuscany on a daily basis.
