Comment on noteThe wine
Imagine for a moment the Tuscan sun caressing vines perched on high, the cool air of the Apennines whispering through the leaves. This is where this wine comes from, a vibrant expression of Sangiovese that tells you a story of land and tradition.
This Chianti Rufina Riserva DOCG "Montesodi" is a treasure of the Frescobaldi house, a family whose winegrowing passion spans more than seven centuries. It comes from the Rufina appellation, recognized as one of the areas best suited to Chianti. The "Montesodi" is the fruit of a rigorous selection, seeing the light of day only in exceptional vintages. The grapes come from the highest plots of the estate, at around 400 meters in altitude, where a unique microclimate, marked by significant temperature variations between day and night, forges aromas of remarkable richness and freshness. The sole grape variety is Sangiovese, the undisputed king of Tuscany.
To the eye, you will discover a deep ruby red color, adorned with garnet highlights as the years go by. On the nose, this wine invites you on a complex sensory journey: notes of ripe red fruits mingle with spices, vanilla, and a subtle touch of tobacco, a legacy of its time in barriques. On the palate, the "Montesodi" reveals a robust yet elegant structure, with well-integrated tannins and a long finish, concluding with mineral and spicy nuances. Fermentation takes place in steel tanks, followed by approximately 18 months of aging in wood, then at least 6 months of bottle refinement before being released on the market. This meticulousness gives it an aging capacity that can easily exceed a decade.
This wine is an ideal companion for characterful dishes. I recommend it with grilled red meats, slow-cooked game, or aged cheeses. Picture it on your table during a special dinner, sharing a moment of conviviality and discovery. It will charm even the most demanding palates, offering you a rich and memorable experience.
