Comment on noteThe wine
Let me guide you to a hidden treasure, an authentic expression of Tuscany that I had the privilege of encountering. This Chianti Rufina Riserva, from the hills of Frescobaldi, is much more than a wine; it is a story of terroir, tradition, and a timeless elegance that deeply marked me.
We are here in the heart of Rufina, a DOCG sub-zone that I particularly cherish. It is a place where the soil, rich in galestro, and the cool climate offer Sangiovese ideal conditions to express itself fully. This estate, Frescobaldi, is a pillar of Tuscan wine history, and their expertise can be felt in every drop of this wine. It is mainly composed of Sangiovese at 90%, complemented by a touch of Malvasia Nera, Colorino, Merlot, and Cabernet Sauvignon for the remaining 10%, a blend that gives it a fascinating complexity.
When I tasted it, its color first captivated me, a prelude to an intense nose where aromas of red fruits, notably cherry and plum, mingle with soft spicy notes and herbaceous and mineral accents that evoke the freshness of its terroir. On the palate, this wine reveals a balanced structure, a harmonious persistence that stretches out long. The aging in oak barrels gives it a beautiful suppleness and a sophisticated aromatic complexity, with perfectly integrated tannins that attest to a minimum aging of 24 months.
This Chianti Rufina Riserva is an invitation to conviviality and the pleasures of the table. I warmly recommend it with grilled red meats, a stewed wild boar, or even a bolder game dish. It also pairs wonderfully with aged cheeses, where its spicy notes and balanced structure will enhance every bite. Let yourself be carried away by this excellence of the Tuscan territory, a wine that masterfully tells the story of tradition and the winemaking talent of Frescobaldi.
