The wine

Brolio Riserva 2022: The soul of Chianti Classico

I invite you to discover a wine that whispers the history of Tuscany, a Riserva that embodies elegance and depth. This Chianti Classico is not just a wine, it is an invitation to a sensory journey to the heart of Gaiole in Chianti, where time seems suspended.

The historic cradle of Ricasoli

This wine is born on the ancestral lands of the Ricasoli estate, in Gaiole in Chianti, where the vineyards rise between 280 and 480 meters in altitude. It is here, on this blessed terroir, that Sangiovese, the king grape variety of Tuscany, flourishes fully, representing 80% of the blend. It is complemented by 15% Merlot and 5% Cabernet Sauvignon, bringing complexity and structure to this Riserva. Fermentation takes place in steel tanks at a controlled temperature of 24 to 27°C, with a maceration of 14 to 16 days, allowing a gentle and precise extraction of aromas and tannins.

After this first stage, the wine ages for 18 months in tonneaux, alternating first and second passage, before resting in the bottle. When tasting it, its color is of deep intensity. On the nose, I first perceive delicate floral notes, quickly followed by aromas of ripe red fruits, a signature of Sangiovese. Spicy nuances and a touch of vanilla, a legacy of its time in wood, complete this complex and harmonious bouquet. On the palate, this Chianti Classico Riserva offers a full body, supported by a solid tannic framework and a beautiful acidity that promotes balance and freshness. You will find fruity returns that mingle with a concentration without excess, all ending on a sapid finish that irresistibly invites another glass.

An ideal table companion

This Chianti Classico DOCG Riserva «Brolio» 2022 is a wine that calls for good food. I particularly recommend it with red meats, where its structure and tannins will pair wonderfully. Imagine it alongside a roast lamb, whose richness of flesh will be magnified by the complexity of the wine. It also pairs very well with aged cheeses, whose character will be enhanced by its spicy and fruity notes. Serve it at a slightly cool temperature, around 16-18°C, to fully appreciate all its nuances. It is a wine designed for moments of sharing, long conversations around a table, an ideal companion to celebrate the Tuscan art of living.

With its 80 % Sangiovese and its Gaiole vineyards perched up to 480 m, the Brolio retains freshness despite its Riserva structure: serve it with roast lamb, not too warm, around 16–18 °C.
