How do you get to the Petriolo hot springs by car?

From Siena, , take the SS223/E78 towards Grosseto ; allow about 30 km and 30 to 40 minutes. Since Grosseto, follow the same road towards Siena: the Bagni di Petriolo are located approximately 45 km. In both directions, look for the signs Terme di Petriolo or Bagni di Petriolo near the viaduct over the Farma river, then follow the local road that descends towards the thermal springs. For the GPS, you can enter "Terme di Petriolo, Strada Provinciale di Petriolo, Monticiano"; check that the route takes you to the pools by the river, and not only to the spa facility.

You will find spaces in small parking areas and along the road, but they can be taken on weekends and in the hot season: avoid parking outside authorized spots. It then takes a few minutes of walking on a sloped path to reach the pools; bring shoes that hold well on your feet, especially if the ground is damp. Access to the natural pools is separate from that of the spa, which is paid. Local signage can be more useful than the exit name displayed by your GPS: slow down as you approach the viaduct and follow the thermal signs.

Petriolo has that little getaway feel that sets it apart from the thermal baths where you go straight from the parking lot to the locker room: here, the river sets the tone from the moment you arrive.
