How to get to the thermal springs of Saturnia?

The simplest way to get to the Cascate del Mulino, the natural thermal pools of Saturnia, is to go there by car: they are located along the SP10, about 2 km from the village of Saturnia, between Saturnia and Montemerano. Follow the signs for "Cascate del Mulino" and park in the nearby parking lot; it is marked as unattended, and spaces can be hard to find on weekends and in summer. Access to the natural pools is free ; do not confuse it with the paid park of Terme di Saturnia.

Without a car, the trip is less convenient: Saturnia has no train station. The nearest stations are about 45 to 60 km — notably Albinia, Montalto di Castro and Grosseto — then you need to arrange the rest by bus or taxi. Buses serve the Saturnia area, but schedules and connections do not guarantee easy access to the waterfalls; check the times for your date and plan a taxi or a rental car for the last stretch. From Rome, allow about 150 km by road ; from Florence, the trip is longer.

The trap is planning the trip there and forgetting the way back: the hot water quickly makes you want to linger, so it's better to sort out your transport before letting yourself be drawn in by the pools!
