How to get to the Saturnia hot springs from Florence?

The simplest way is to go by car: from Florence to the Cascate del Mulino, allow about 180 à 190 km and 2 h 45 to 3 h 15, depending on traffic. The route usually goes through Siena, , then Grosseto, Scansano and Montemerano. Between Grosseto and Saturnia, the roads are slower; so allow extra time. In your GPS, enter "Cascate del Mulino" rather than simply "Terme di Saturnia", which may send you to the paid spa complex, distinct from the natural pools.

Without a car, it's doable, but not very practical for a day trip: take a train from Florence to Grosseto, then regional buses with one or more connections, especially via Scansano. The journey can take about 5 to 6 hours depending on the schedules, and departures are limited; check the connections in both directions before leaving. A taxi from Grosseto simplifies the last leg, but may be expensive. Access to the Cascate del Mulino is free; parking is nearby, followed by a short walk. On weekends and in summer, arrive early to avoid the biggest crowds.

The trap is treating Saturnia as an express round trip: the Maremma is worth the effort, so keep some time to enjoy the journey as much as the pools.
