Comment on noteThe wine
Imagine yourself in the heart of the Val d'Orcia, where the Tuscan hills shape a landscape of breathtaking beauty. It is from this exceptional land that Petrucci Anfiteatro is born, a DOC Orcia which, believe me, will not leave you indifferent. This wine is an invitation to discover the most authentic expression of Sangiovese, raised with passion by the Podere Forte estate.
The Val d'Orcia, renowned for its iconic landscapes and wine heritage, is the cradle of this wine. The Podere Forte estate grows its vines there with a philosophy focused on excellence and respect for natural balance, in organic farming. This is where the Sangiovese grapes of the 2019 vintage come from, selected with great care to craft this DOC Orcia. Spontaneous fermentation takes place in a large 110-quintal French oak foudre, followed by 32 days of maceration on the skins, a method that reveals all the depth of the grape variety.
To the eye, you will discover a color of promising intensity. On the nose, the Petrucci Anfiteatro will offer you a rich and complex bouquet: intense notes of red fruits and dark berries mingle with spicy nuances. You will be able to detect balsamic touches, tobacco, leather and even chocolate, the result of barrel aging that gives it a fascinating aromatic complexity. On the palate, this wine reveals itself as robust and full, with well-structured tannins yet of great suppleness. The balance is impeccable, and the long, persistent finish will leave you with a memorable impression.
To fully appreciate the richness and variety of nuances of the Petrucci Anfiteatro, I recommend serving it at a temperature of 18°C. Its complexity and structure make it the ideal companion for red meat dishes, game or aged cheeses. Picture it alongside a good Tuscan-style wild boar dish or a platter of pecorino stagionato, and you are guaranteed an unforgettable tasting moment. This is a wine with remarkable aging potential, capable of evolving beautifully over the decades, but it is already ready to charm you right now. A true gem to discover and share on great occasions.
