Comment on noteThe wine
I invite you to discover a treasure of the Valdichiana, a Vin Santo that whispers rather than shouts. It is a sensory experience of great finesse, a measured sweetness that reveals the true soul of hidden Tuscany.
This Vin Santo della Valdichiana Toscana DOC is the work of the Santa Cristina estate, nestled in the heart of the Valdichiana, near Cortona. It is a region where the generous sun and fertile land give life to wines of rare authenticity. This 2021 vintage is made from the region's traditional grape varieties, Trebbiano Toscano and Malvasia, carefully selected for their aromatic potential.
From the very first glance, you will be charmed by its luminous amber color. On the nose, it will offer you a delicate bouquet of candied fruit, dried apricot and Corinth raisins, enhanced by notes of amaretti and a touch of honey. On the palate, its texture is enveloping, a perceptible sweetness balanced by a freshness that gives it crispness and fluidity. All of this is the result of a meticulous winemaking method: the grapes are dried, fermentation takes place in wood, then the wine ages for at least two years in small oak barrels, a maturation that gives it its complexity and harmony.
This Vin Santo is a wine for meditation par excellence, but it also excels as an accompaniment. I particularly recommend it with dry desserts, homemade pastries or even blue cheeses, for a bold and delicious contrast. You can also savor it on its own, for a moment of pure contemplation and appreciation.
Serve it moderately chilled to bring out all its aromas without masking its structure. This Vin Santo from Santa Cristina is an invitation to slow down, to savor the moment and to let yourself be carried away by the richness of Tuscany. It is a bottle that will reveal its nuances as you taste it, an intimate experience that I encourage you to live.
