Comment on noteThe wine
Imagine a sea breeze caressing the vines, a generous yet temperate sun. This is the very essence you will find in this Bolgheri DOC from the Ricasoli estate, a wine that whispers the story of its terroir without ever shouting.
This wine was born on the Tuscan coast, in the prestigious Bolgheri DOC appellation, a region that has reinvented the codes of Italian wine. The Ricasoli estate, with its expertise, has masterfully blended 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Merlot and 25% Petit Verdot for this 2024 vintage. It is a Bordeaux-style marriage, but with a Tuscan soul.
As soon as you pour it, its color invites discovery. On the nose, you will perceive aromas of ripe red fruits, such as blackcurrant and cherry, interlaced with darker notes of blackberry. Then, spicy nuances reveal themselves, accompanied by a delicate vegetal touch and a hint of sweet tobacco. The 16-day maceration and the Bordeaux-style blend, followed by 8 months of aging in barrique, give this wine a harmonious structure. On the palate, it confirms these olfactory impressions, with a tannic framework that is present yet perfectly integrated, offering a balanced tasting and beautiful persistence.
This Bolgheri DOC is an ideal companion for your meals. I particularly recommend it with "Primi di terra", those generous pasta dishes with flavors of the earth, or "Secondi di carne rossa" – think of a good roast or a grilled dish. If you are a game lover, it will also enhance these dishes. It also pairs very well with flavorful sauces, charcuterie and semi-aged cheeses. It is a wine that is sober, without excess, but with a strong personality that will adapt to medium-structured dishes. Feel free to serve it at room temperature and, if time allows, let it open up for a few moments to appreciate all its subtleties.
