Comment on noteThe wine
Imagine for a moment the sea breeze of the Tuscan coast caressing the vines, the generous sun of Bolgheri permeating every cluster. It is from there that this Bolgheri Rosso comes, a wine which, for me, perfectly embodies the balance between the power of Bordeaux grape varieties and the elegance of the Tuscan terroir.
We are in Bolgheri, a prestigious appellation in the province of Livorno, where the Ricasoli estate has found its place. Here, winemaking tradition meets a modern approach, giving birth to wines of great personality. This Bolgheri Rosso is the fruit of a classic blend, a "taglio bordolese": 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Cabernet Franc and 25% Merlot. A marriage that celebrates the richness of these international grape varieties under the Tuscan sun.
When I pour it, its bright ruby color catches the light, already promising a fine tasting. On the nose, I first perceive intense notes of red and black fruits: blackcurrant, cherry and blackberry blend harmoniously. Then, more complex touches appear, delicate spices, a hint of cedar and even a touch of tobacco, revealing the maturity acquired during its eight months in barrel. On the palate, this wine offers a balanced structure. The tannins are present but of great finesse, and the freshness brings a lovely drinkability that prolongs the pleasure through to a persistent and pleasant finish.
This Bolgheri Rosso is a wine I particularly like to recommend for its versatility at the table. It will pair wonderfully with grilled or roasted red meats, flavorful game or structured pasta dishes. Imagine it alongside a good brasato or a platter of aged cheeses. It is the ideal companion for convivial moments, but also for more refined occasions, without ever being pretentious. Serve it at around 16-18°C in large glasses to appreciate its full aromatic palette.
