Day 1 — Between tuff, miracles and Maremma flavors
Ciao, it's Tosco! My snout is already twitching at the idea of telling you about my first day of adventure. Imagine, the sun rising over the Maremma, and my first stop was the Belvedere Madonna delle Grazie. Believe me, even a little wild boar piglet like me feels the spirituality here! The Baroque architecture, the miraculous statue... it's a peaceful atmosphere. Accessibility is a bit limited, but the calm, the tales of miracles, it's worth the trip, even for a little frolic.
Next, I dove — and I mean dove — into the Via Cava di San Rocco. That's the real Maremma, my friend! This Etruscan path carved into the tuff... the fresh, damp air, my steps echoing between the mossy walls. No crowds, just history whispering. It's a raw sensory immersion, and free on top of that, where you feel the ancientness under your paws, and it's a thousand times more impressive than any classic museum!
After history, time for pleasures! I dashed off to Sorano for a historical hike under the vines, the air steeped in holm oak. The tuff under my feet reminded me of my roots! Then, a little indulgence: a Ciliegiolo tasting in Pitigliano, at Sassotondo. This ancient, rare grape variety, with the smell of earth and vine... Ah, Pitigliano, with its silhouette sculpted in the tuff, it promises you stories of terroir and passion. A real delight for my little taste buds!
Day 2 — Sulfurous vapors and nature's secrets
The sun wasn't even high yet and my little paws were already itching to explore. Off to Saturnia, and believe me, it was quite a surprise! These waterfalls... incredible! The water at 37.5°C, even this early in the morning, it's perfect for a little wild boar piglet like me who loves to lounge around. The rising steam, the travertine pools, you'd think you were in a secret world. Free on top of that! I splashed around, sniffed the sulfurous air, and I even saw a lady taking a photo where she looked like she was stepping out of a dream. Truly an unforgettable experience, even for a mud bath regular! After that gentle warmth, I needed to stretch my hooves in the wild Maremma. So I headed for the Amiata hills, on a small trail far from everything. Here, you hear the murmur of nature, the water gushing from the springs... it's another Tuscany, much more intimate. I love sneaking off the beaten path, and the Amiata springs are the perfect place for that. You truly feel alone in the world, just with the wind in the leaves and the little sounds of the forest. And to end this day full of discoveries, what could be better than a haven of peace? I arrived at the Agriturismo Poggio Al Vento, near Manciano. This place is a real hidden gem. Far from the crowds, you feel time slowing down. It's exactly what I love: a total immersion, a true enchanted interlude where every detail tells you "welcome". I won't tell you more, but it was the perfect ending to this day between relaxation and exploration.
