Day 1 — Between Etruscan thermal baths and hidden vineyards
Ciao, it's Tosco! Ready for a new adventure in Maremma? On my first day, I started where history pulses beneath every stone: in San Casciano dei Bagni. Believe me, the sulfurous smell of the Etruscan and Roman thermal baths, mixed with the Tuscan earth, hits you right in the nose! I strolled through those medieval alleys, feeling like an explorer discovering a well-kept secret. Diving into those hot water pools was an authentic immersion into history, a true treasure of waters and tales in the heart of the Valdichiana Senese. A great start to the day revigorant, you can believe me!
After that thermal interlude, off to Sorano, where the past whispers beneath your feet. The fresh morning air caressed my snout, with that scent of damp earth and old stone. The first rays of sun sculpted the tuff cliffs, revealing the Etruscan chasms... a true invitation to explore! I walked, curious, through this village suspended in time, exploring its Etruscan depths. And to end the day in style? A tasting of local nectars!
The evening took me to the Agriturismo Locanda Pantanello, near Pitigliano. A haven of peace, nestled in those gentle hills of Maremma. Far from the hustle and bustle, every stone of the farmhouse tells a story, every flavor awakens the senses. An old stone farmhouse, guardian of the hills, that's Pantanello. I ended this intense day feeling like a king of wild boars, ready for new discoveries!
Day 2 — Sulfurous delights and Etruscan secrets
After the intensity of the first day, I desperately needed to recharge! And what better place than the Cascate del Mulino? Believe me, when you plunge into that 37.5°C water, after a starry night of walking, you forget everything. The smell of sulfur that had surprised me a bit yesterday is here a true embrace. I let the natural pools massage my back, the warm water caress my snout, and I almost snored with pure happiness. It's an incredible feeling of freedom, to lounge there, day or night, a secret so well kept that you feel like kings of the world, or at least of Maremma! I could have spent the whole day there, but the call of adventure is stronger than anything!
Once my legs were well relaxed, I set course for an equally mysterious place: the Via Cava of San Sebastiano. Get ready, it's quite an immersion! Those dizzying tuff walls... I felt like a tiny piglet in a canyon carved by time and the Etruscans. The air there is fresh, even damp, and every step echoes. I imagined the merchants, the warriors, the families who walked this same path thousands of years ago. It's a visually breathtaking experience, one that grabs you by the gut. You come out of there with your head full of stories and the feeling of having uncovered a little secret of Maremma. And after so many emotions, a good plate of porcini mushroom pasta is calling my name!
Un conseil d'ami à quatre pattes : file aux Cascate del Mulino dès le lever du soleil pour éviter la foule, avant de t'engouffrer dans la fraîcheur mystique de la Via Cava !
