Comment on noteOur opinion
Imagine a hike that plunges you into the heart of a mystery, where time has stood still. I invite you to discover Vitozza, a fascinating place nicknamed the Matera of Tuscany, nestled in the enchanting landscapes of Maremma. It's an adventure that promises to take you far beyond a simple walk.
Our journey begins in the charming town of Sorano, whose houses seem to defy gravity, clinging to the rock. From there, we will venture onto hidden trails, which will gradually lead us to the ancient city of Vitozza. You will have the unique opportunity to explore these dwellings carved directly into the tuff rock, where communities lived until the 18th century. We will wander among the remains of the three castles that once dominated the town, offering you a striking glimpse of life in the past in this incredible environment.
This immersion will reveal to you how the inhabitants managed to tame the rock, creating a unique way of life in perfect harmony with the surrounding nature. The Tuscan hills, often dotted with vineyards and olive groves, hide unsuspected treasures, and Vitozza is a shining example of this. If you wish, and only upon request, the experience can end with a tasting of local wine, served in a cellar also carved into the tuff rock, thus extending the magic of the place.
This activity is for you if you are an explorer at heart, eager for authentic discoveries and forgotten stories. It's a perfect opportunity to get off the beaten track and immerse yourself in the unique heritage of the Tuscan Maremma. Far from the crowds, you will discover a little-known chapter of local history, a place where nature and human ingenuity have intertwined to create a cultural landscape of incomparable richness.
