Comment on noteOur opinion
Listen, if you're looking for a place in Manciano that doesn't take you for a fool, Le Chiuse is a really good find. It's not one of those tourist traps, but a restaurant with a genuine local reputation, with reviews that speak for themselves: 9.7/10 on nearly a hundred reviews, that's no small feat.
The house serves you Italian cuisine, but above all Maremma cuisine, rooted in Tuscan tradition. You won't find any unnecessary fuss, just dishes with taste and meaning. For example, you can go for the Antipasto delle Chiuse or the Antipasto vegetariano delle Chiuse, starters that set the tone. And if you want something that speaks of the land, the Crostone salsiccia e pecorino, well, that's the real deal.
Le Chiuse is also classified as a meat restaurant, which is a good sign for the quality of the produce. They highlight seasonal products, and that, as you well know, is the foundation of good cooking. No star chef here, just people who know their trade and respect the ingredients. The atmosphere, as far as I understand, is that of an agriturismo: simple, welcoming, a bit like being at friends' place, far from the noise, about two kilometers from the center of Manciano. You're in the middle of the Tuscan countryside, in a relaxed atmosphere where gastronomy reigns supreme, with that typical view of rural Maremma.
If you're in the Manciano area and you're fed up with places that ride the wave without offering anything solid, Le Chiuse is a safe bet. It's not the place where you'll look for cutting-edge design, but the one where you'll find honest cuisine and true generosity. For a meal at around 31 euros per person, you get an experience that connects you to the real Tuscany, the one that nourishes body and soul without artifice.
