How to park in the villages of Pitigliano and Sorano?

À Pitigliano, leave your car around the historic center rather than trying to enter it: the ZTL is monitored by camera, and visitors without authorization risk a fine. The Piazza Nenni parking lot is large, paid, and a few minutes' walk from the village. To try to park for free, look towards Piazza Dante Alighieri or the space near the Zuccarelli school; spots there are harder to find, especially on weekends and in high season. Via Santa Chiara also offers free and paid spots, about 5 minutes on foot from the center.

À Sorano, aim for the spots signposted near the village, especially around Piazza del Municipio, then continue on foot: the alleys are narrow and the ancient heart is best explored without a car. The town hall indicates that paid parking applies every day, public holidays included, from 8 am to 1 pm and from 3 pm to 8 pm ; the first half hour is free, then it costs €0.50 per hour or fraction of an hour, with a daily rate of 4 €. You must enter your license plate at the parking meter. In both villages, plan for a bit of walking and check the signs on site: spots and restrictions may vary depending on the street.

In Pitigliano as in Sorano, don't let the GPS convince you to play race car driver in the alleys: save your legs for the detours, they'll be better used!
