How do you get to the Buca delle Fate?

You can reach the Buca delle Fate on foot from the parking lot of Reciso, on the road that goes up from Baratti towards Populonia Alta, just before the village. The cove is not accessible by car. From the parking lot, follow the CAI trail 301 toward the sea: allow about 20 to 30 minutes one way, for a route of about 1.5 km. The trail descends through the vegetation and passes near Etruscan tombs; the last stretch is rocky and uneven.

The return is via the same path, so uphill: wear closed shoes, bring water and, if you plan to swim, shoes suitable for rocks. There are neither services nor sandy beach on site. Follow the trail signs and respect any closure or danger signage; some coastal routes on the promontory may be exposed to landslides. You can also reach the cove by sea, but on foot, the Reciso starting point is the most direct option.

Don't reduce it to just a swimming break: the Buca delle Fate is best enjoyed by taking the time to appreciate its wild side, without rushing straight to the water.
