Where to park near the Vie Cave of Sovana?

Park at the parking of the Sovana archaeological area, on the provincial road heading towards San Martino sul Fiora : it's the most convenient way to reach the Vie Cave. From the village, allow about 2 km by car. Follow the signs for “Necropoli” or “Area archeologica”; after the short tunnel, the parking is on the right, near the Calesine stream. The Vie Cave do not start from the centre of Sovana, so don't leave your car in the village parking lot thinking you can do everything on foot.

From the parking lot, access to the Cavone takes about 200 m of walking uphill to the indicated starting point. To reach the Via Cava of San Sebastiano, take the path in the other direction, towards Sovana, then follow the signs on site. The archaeological area parking is convenient, but spaces may be limited; on busy days, arrive early rather than counting on a spot right in front of the entrance. If you also want to visit the village, get back in the car: there is a separate parking lot in Sovana, closer to the square.
