A budget agriturismo in the Tuscan Maremma is generally a simple but well-kept room in an authentic family farm — not necessarily with a pool or spa, but with a warm welcome, homemade breakfast and complete immersion in Tuscan rural life. The most affordable options are found in the inland areas (Manciano, Scansano, Pitigliano, Sorano) rather than on the coast or the Argentario, where prices rise noticeably.
To maximize your budget at a Tuscan agriturismo: avoid July-August when prices increase by 30 to 50%; favor the shoulder season (May-June and September-October) which offers the best value for money of the year while enjoying excellent weather; book directly with the owners rather than through platforms (which take a 15-20% commission built into the displayed price). Some agritourism farms offer weekly rates with a 10 to 20% discount.
The Maremma remains one of the regions of Tuscany where authentic accommodations are still available at reasonable prices — unlike Chianti or Val d'Orcia, where tourist pressure has significantly pushed prices up.
