What is the distance between Gavorrano and the sea?

From the center of Gavorrano, allow about 17 to 20 km to the sea, depending on the chosen beach. To reach the seafront of Follonica, you should plan for around 20 to 25 minutes by car, outside traffic. Gavorrano sits up in the hills: you can't reach the beach on foot, and the distance varies depending on whether you stay in the village or in a hamlet of the municipality.

Without a car, a bus connects Gavorrano to Follonica, but check the schedules for your travel day: frequencies and connections can make the trip less convenient, especially for a day at the beach. Once in Follonica, the seafront is accessible from the town. For coves like Cala Violina, you should plan for a different road route, then a walk from the parking lot; it's not simply the closest beach. Gavorrano therefore remains an inland place to stay, in the Colline Metallifere, with the coast within reach by car rather than at the foot of the village.
