How far is Castell'Azzara from the sea?

Castell'Azzara is about 50 km from the sea as the crow flies; by car, plan on 70 to 85 km instead, i.e. about 1 h 20 to 1 h 40 depending on the beach and the route. The village is in the hinterland, in the hills of southern Tuscany: so it is not a place where you can reach the coast on foot or make a quick round trip for a swim.

For a day by the water, look towards the coast of Capalbio or Marina di Grosseto ; the distance and travel time vary depending on the access chosen. In summer, also allow extra time on the road and for parking, especially on weekends. If you don't have a car, getting to a beach from Castell'Azzara is less convenient: it's better to check the connections before leaving rather than counting on a simple trip by public transport.
