When is the market held in Massa Marittima?

The weekly market of Massa Marittima a lieu every Wednesday, from 8 am to around 1 pm, or at the Parco di Poggio. If you want to enjoy the market in full, it's best to come in the morning: the closing time is approximate and the stalls start packing up around noon.

Be careful not to confuse it with the markets of other coastal towns with "Massa" in their name: here, it really is Massa Marittima, in the Metalliferous Hills. The market is held outdoors; in case of rain, public holidays or occasional changes, the times or date may be adjusted. For a visit on a Wednesday that falls on a public holiday, check locally before making the trip.

You can then head to the historic centre for a stroll, but keep in mind that the market and the old streets are not necessarily in the same place: look for the Parco di Poggio on your route rather than searching for stalls around the cathedral square. In short: Wednesday morning, at the Parco di Poggio.

Leave a little room in your bag: markets are great hunting grounds for little finds, before swapping their bustle for the calm of the ancient narrow streets.
