When to visit Mount Labbro in Tuscany?

The most pleasant time to visit the Monte Labbro, c'est généralement de May to June or September to October : you avoid part of the summer heat and the days are often better suited to hiking. The summit reaches about 1 190 meters and the ridges are exposed; even in good weather, plan for a warm layer and possible wind.

In July and August, you can climb it, but start early: the sun beats down on the open stretches and there is little shade. In winter, the cold, fog, wind or snow can make the outing unpleasant, even impracticable; give up if the weather deteriorates. From the wildlife park, the Transumanza trail is about 5.1 km and takes around 1 h 25. If you go through the park, check its seasonal opening hours before setting off: they are shorter from October to March. Whatever the month, check the local weather on the day itself and avoid the trails in bad weather.

A little wild boar tip: don't make the summit the only plan of the day, keep a backup stop in the Amiata in case the clouds show up.
