How do I get to Cala Grande on Monte Argentario?

You reach Cala Grande by the Strada Panoramica of the Argentario, a few kilometers west of Porto Santo StefanoLook for the lookout known as the Curva Buozzi, from where you can see the whole cove, then park on the side of the road. From there, a small partly paved road then a steep path in the vegetation descend to the sea.

Spots along the Panoramica are few in number and the signage from the road is discreet: keep the map on your phone. The beach is made of pebbleswith no establishment or any services, so no beach umbrellas for rent or bar. In return, the water is very clear and the rocky bottom is well suited for snorkeling.

The catch is the climb back: the descent goes quickly, but climbing back up the trail in full sun, with beach gear, is grueling in summer. Come early in the morning, in closed shoes, with plenty of water.
