The most beautiful beaches of Monte Argentario are, in my opinion, Cala del Gesso for its rocky scenery and clear water, Feniglia for the sand and the pine grove, and Giannella if you want an easily accessible beach. At Feniglia, the sand is fine, the water shallow and the pine grove of the nature reserve runs along the shore: it is the most practical choice with children. Giannella also offers sand and shallow seabeds, along a long strip of coast that can reach 8 km.
For a cove, Cala del Gesso is superb, but it is mostly made of pebbles and access requires effort: the descent trail is indicated at about 1.3 km and 50 minutes, with high difficulty. Take good shoes, water and something to protect yourself from the sun; there are few services on site. Cala Grande, also stony, is worth the trip if you accept a descent on foot; La Bionda, near Porto Santo Stefano, is smaller and protected by a reef. In July and August, arrive early, especially for the coves: parking and access can quickly become complicated. For a day without walking, choose Feniglia or Giannella instead.
