Comment on noteThe wine
I invite you to discover an authentic expression of Chianti Classico, the one that Marchesi Antinori, guardian of ancestral know-how, has managed to capture. This wine is not just a bottle, it is a story, a landscape, a promise of a sensory journey to the heart of Tuscany.
Born on the emblematic lands of the municipalities of San Casciano, Gaiole, Castellina and Greve, this Chianti Classico Riserva is the fruit of an exceptional terroir. The Marchesi Antinori estate, whose history is intertwined with that of Tuscan wine, passionately cultivates its vines there. This 2022 vintage is mainly made from Sangiovese (90%), complemented by a touch of Cabernet (5%) and Merlot (5%), a blend that defines the identity of this Riserva.
From the moment it is opened, you will be charmed by its intense color. On the nose, it reveals a symphony of ripe red fruits, notably cherry, interwoven with notes of small black fruits and delicate floral touches of violet. The experience is then enriched by more complex aromas: tobacco, dark chocolate and spicy nuances complete this bouquet. On the palate, this wine offers a balanced structure. You will perceive a lively acidity that brings freshness, and tannins that are present but measured, giving a sensation of controlled strength, never overwhelming. The vinification, with fermentation in steel tanks followed by maceration of 10 to 14 days, then 12 months of ageing in wood (botti grandi and barriques), before refinement in bottle, contributes to this harmony.
To fully appreciate this Chianti Classico Riserva, I suggest you pair it with dishes that will reveal its richness. Imagine it alongside costolette d'agnello alla griglia, a slow-cooked ossobuco, or a platter of formaggi stagionati, such as an aged pecorino. It is an ideal companion for flavorful dishes, red meats that are not excessively fatty, and roasts. Do not hesitate to open it a little in advance or to decant it to favor its oxygenation, and serve it at a slightly cool temperature to bring out all its nuances. This wine is an invitation to share an important moment, without ostentation, just the pleasure of discovery and conviviality.
