Comment on noteThe wine
Imagine an evening where time stretches out, where each sip reveals a story. This Bolgheri DOC from the Ricasoli estate, 2023 vintage, is an invitation to that exquisite slowness, a faithful expression of the Livorno Maremma that I hold so dear.
The Ricasoli estate, rooted on the Livorno coastline, embodies a winemaking tradition in which respect for the land is paramount. It is here, in this prestigious Bolgheri appellation, that wines of remarkable intensity are born. This 2023 is a classic Bordeaux-style blend, marrying 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 25% Merlot and 25% Petit Verdot, grape varieties that find a unique expression here.
When you pour this Bolgheri, its compact, deep color strikes you. On the nose, I perceive a symphony of ripe red and black fruits, a hint of violet and licorice, lifted by spicy notes and a touch of tobacco. On the palate, it reveals a harmonious structure, with tannins that are present yet perfectly integrated, and a discreet persistence that prolongs the pleasure. After controlled fermentation, it patiently aged for 12 to 14 months in French oak barriques, which gives it this complexity and roundness.
This wine is a natural choice for generous tables. I recommend it with grilled red meats, wild boar stew or any other game. It will also elevate flavorful pasta dishes, rich in Tuscan flavors, and pair wonderfully with aged cheeses. Its enveloping presence and balanced body are perfect for moments of sharing, where every guest will appreciate its slow progression and character.
