Maremmano is not just an adjective. When you are in Maremma, it first designates the local horse, sturdy and elegant, the historic companion of the butteri, the cowboys of Maremma. You will often see it in the pastures or at equestrian demonstrations. Then, it can also refer to the shepherd dog breed, the Maremmano-Abruzzese, that big white dog that watches over the flocks.
