Comment on noteOur opinion
This bistrot is first and foremost the story of an agritourism, a large alpaca breeding farm in Maremma. Here, you eat in the heart of a farm, not in a city restaurant. That's what makes the difference, and that's what should interest you.
The house offers Italian cuisine that draws on the local terroir. You'll find things like the "Selezione di salumi e formaggi DOP della Tuscia con miele di favo, vegetali sott'olio, micro burratina e torta rustica" – a platter of local charcuterie and cheeses with honey, marinated vegetables and a small burrata, that speaks to you of the region. They also make "Polpettine di vitellone all'amatriciana e fusa di pecorino", small veal meatballs amatriciana-style with melted pecorino, and a "Flan di asparagi e prosciutto CBT fatto in casa" which shows real care in the preparation.
The setting is their strong point. You are in the heart of the Tuscan-Latial Maremma, on a farm of several hundred hectares, with a view that seems to be a major asset. It's a rural environment, close to the sea, that invites relaxation. Don't expect a sophisticated decor, but rather the authenticity of a place rooted in nature. It's an agritourism bistrot, so you come for the country air and the view, as much as for the plate.
If you're looking for a table where the meal is tied to a farm environment, with local terroir products and an unobstructed view over the Maremma, then Piani degli Alpaca Bistrot is an option. It's an experience that goes beyond the plate, immersing you in the landscape and activity of a farm. That's why you come here, for that direct connection with the land and what it produces, far from the hustle and bustle of tourist towns.
