Comment on noteOur opinion
Listen carefully, because I'm telling you about an address that, despite its young age under this name, already has a reputation that's beginning to take shape. Il Marrucheto 1983 in Stazione Sant'Angelo-Cinigiano is a place that focuses on meat, but doesn't neglect the wood-fired oven. It's a place that seems to want to offer honest cuisine, without fuss, at an average price of around 32 euros per person.
Here, you'll find a meat-based cuisine, as they say. The house highlights things that speak to the stomach: the "tagliere misto", a platter of cold cuts and cheeses, which they recommend for two. But above all, they work with Chianina IGP beef from the Val di Chiana, and that's no small thing. You can find it as tartare, hand-minced, with a burrata cream, pistachio and sprouts. Or as carpaccio, with artichoke heart, fresh pecorino from Pienza and microgreens. These are the kinds of details that show they know what they're doing with quality raw ingredients.
But be careful, don't limit yourself to the meat. The pizza here is renowned. Some customers talk about a "delicious pizza", and it seems they have a wood-fired oven. That's a guarantee of quality for a real Tuscan pizza. If you pass by, you can expect a family restaurant atmosphere, simple and welcoming. They don't sell you decor dreams, but a table where you can sit down, eat properly and without breaking the bank. They even have parking, which isn't always the case in our villages.
If you're looking for a no-frills table, where the quality of Chianina meat is highlighted and where you can also enjoy a good pizza cooked in a wood-fired oven, Il Marrucheto 1983 is a solid option. It's a place that seems to want to do things right, with identified products, without excessive pretension. It's the kind of place where you can eat the real cuisine of our Maremma, the kind that nourishes you and speaks of our terroir, without taking you for a fool.
