When to visit the Sassotondo estate in Sorano?

To visit the estate Sassotondo, aim for instead May-June or September-early October : you will enjoy generally more pleasant temperatures to see the vines and walk around Sorano. As a guideline, average highs are around 21 °C in May and 25 °C in June and September. Spring is greener, but showers remain possible; in September, the light is beautiful, with sometimes changeable weather.

In July and August, it is often hot — around 29 °C on average for highs — and a visit to the vines in the middle of the day can be unpleasant. The harvest period, generally in September but variable depending on the year, can also make the estate busier: call ahead if you want to be sure you can visit at a leisurely pace. In winter, a tasting is still possible, but the vines are less pleasant to walk through and the weather is cooler and more humid. In any case, book in advance : visits to the estate and the cellar are by appointment. Access includes about 2.2 km from the main road, part of it on an unpaved track.
