In Maremma, the average temperature in September is around 21 °C, taking Grosseto as a reference. During the day, average highs reach about 27 °C, while nighttime lows are around 15 °C. So it is often still warm in the afternoon, but the evenings are cooler than in midsummer.
The month nevertheless changes noticeably: in early September, days can still feel summery, whereas by the end of the month temperatures drop and rainy spells become more likely. In Grosseto, the averages indicate about 65 mm of rain spread over 5 days in September: this doesn't mean it rains continuously, but it's better to bring a light jacket and a solution for less sunny days. On the coast, the breeze can also make the air cooler, especially in the evening. For a visit, plan light clothing for the day and an extra layer for going out after sunset.
