When did the Sorano landslide take place? (with encoded apostrophe)

The great landslide of Sorano took place on 13 February 1801. Part of the tuff spur then called the Rocca Vecchia collapsed, causing 31 dead and notably destroying 23 houses. It is this event that is generally meant when people talk about the historic landslide of Sorano.

The affected area was located in the old village, around the rock now known as Masso Leopoldino. The site was later consolidated, but this tragedy should not be confused with the other ground movements that affected Sorano at different periods: slides notably resumed in the 1920s, and collapses are also reported in 1962. So, if you were thinking of a more recent episode, the date may refer to another event; for the great deadly landslide, it is indeed the 13 February 1801.

The tuff gives Sorano its dizzying appearance, but its history reminds us that this scenery is also fragile. Near the Masso Leopoldino, the landscape is contemplated with a little more attention.
