To see animals, start with the A6 trail, the fauna route, near Alberese: its 2.2 km cross areas where fallow deer, roe deer and wild boar sometimes come out of the woods to feed. Early in the morning or at the end of the day, move slowly and quietly; sightings are never guaranteed. Roe deer can also be spotted in the fields around the cycle path towards Marina di Alberese. Allow about 30 minutes of walking for the A6, more if you take the time to observe. Entry costs around 5 € per adult for this route; check the arrangements before setting off, as access varies by season.
For birds, head rather to the wetlands north of the Ombroneon both sides of the river, especially towards the Chiari della Trappola. The passage of migrants makes autumn and winter interesting: geese and cranes arrive from mi-octobre. You can also reach Bocca d'Ombrone via the A7 trail, a walk of about 5 à 6 km round trip, but it is not a guarantee of sightings. Bring binoculars, stay on the trails and keep in mind that mammals are more active at dawn and dusk; during the day, you may mostly see tracks.
