Saturnia is located about 160 to 180 km from Rome by road, depending on your starting point and the route chosen. By car, generally allow 2 h 30 to 3 h without major slowdowns; traffic leaving Rome can lengthen the trip. The last few kilometers are on secondary roads, so allow some extra time, especially if you want to reach the Cascate del Mulino, a few minutes from the village.
Without a car, the trip is less simple: you can take a train from Rome towards Orbetello-Monte Argentario or Grosseto, then continue by bus or taxi. Depending on the connections, the journey can take about 4 to 6 hours, sometimes more, and local buses are not always frequent. Check the schedules for the exact day of your trip; a taxi or private transfer for the last part may be necessary. For a day trip from Rome, it is therefore feasible by car, but the drive already represents several hours round trip. If you also plan to enjoy the baths, staying overnight in the area makes the trip considerably less rushed.
