How far is Gavorrano from the sea?

From the village of Gavorrano, allow about 17 to 20 km by road to reach the seaside in Follonica, or roughly 20 to 30 minutes by car depending on the beach and traffic. Gavorrano is therefore inland, not on the coast. The distance also varies depending on the hamlet where you are staying: the municipality is large, and not all its areas are the same distance from the sea.

You can reach Follonica by bus from Gavorrano, but the trip takes around half an hour and the schedules can make round trips less convenient than by car. For a beach day, plan for a bit of driving and check access to the beach you choose. If you are rather looking for a stay in the hills, Gavorrano lies in the heart of the Colline Metallifere : the sea remains accessible, but it is not a village where you walk down to the beach.
