Comment on noteThe wine
Imagine yourself in the heart of Tuscany, where history blends with the terroir. This Chianti Classico Riserva from Rocca Guicciarda is not just a wine, it is an invitation to a sensory journey, a measured and balanced expression of its origin. It calls you to discover a personality that reveals itself with elegance, glass after glass.
We are here in the emblematic Chianti Classico DOCG appellation, in Tuscany, a region whose name alone evokes rolling landscapes and an ancestral winemaking tradition. The Rocca Guicciarda estate, with its rich history, fits perfectly into this lineage. This wine is the fruit of a meticulous blend: 90% Sangiovese, the region's king grape, complemented by 5% Merlot for roundness and 5% Canaiolo for complexity, offering an authentic interpretation of the terroir.
This 2023 vintage displays a deep ruby robe, tinged with light garnet reflections, a promise of beautiful maturity. On the nose, you will be charmed by notes of ripe red fruits, black fruits, then spicy scents of cloves and touches of vanilla, which unfold without ever being overpowering. On the palate, the attack is enveloping, revealing a vigorous but harmonious tannic structure, supported by beautiful freshness. The finish is long and clean, with a persistent return of fruity notes and a pleasant savoriness. Fermentation and maceration were carried out in stainless steel tanks at a controlled temperature of 24 to 27°C for 14 to 16 days. The aging, for its part, extended over 18 months in tonneaux and large casks, followed by 3 to 6 months of bottle refinement, allowing this wine to develop all its complexity.
This Chianti Classico Riserva is an ideal companion for your most refined meals. I recommend it with grilled red meats, flavorful roasts or even game, where its tannic structure will find a perfect echo. It will also pair wonderfully with rich pasta dishes, fine charcuterie or aged cheeses. A brief decanting before serving, at a temperature of 16-18 °C, will reveal all its nuances. It is the perfect wine for a special occasion, a dinner with friends or simply to treat yourself, transporting you, for the time of a glass, to the heart of authentic Tuscany.
