A cascata, in Maremma, is a natural waterfall. But forget the image of Niagara Falls: here, we are talking rather about small waterfalls, often thermal, which create natural pools where you can swim. Think of the famous Cascate del Mulino in Saturnia, with their sulphurous water at 37°C. It is not a spectacular attraction, but a local relaxation experience, free and authentic. You go there for the sensation of warm water on your skin, for the landscape of travertine terraces, and for the relaxed atmosphere. It is a way of experiencing Maremma far from the paying crowds.
