Where is the Duna Feniglia Nature Reserve?

The Duna Feniglia Nature Reserve is located at Orbetello, in the province of Grosseto, in southern Tuscany. It occupies the Feniglia tombolo, a strip of sand and pine forest that connects the hill ofAnsedonia to the promontory of the Monte Argentario, near Porto Ercole. The reserve lies between the Orbetello lagoonto the north and the Tyrrhenian Sea to the south: it is therefore not an isolated site in the hinterland, but a coastal strip between lagoon and beach.

You can enter it from both ends: on the Ansedonia or side Porto Ercoleside. An almost flat track crosses the pine forest for about 6 km ; allow roughly 1 h 30 to 2 h on foot to cover it in one direction, depending on your pace and breaks. Access is on foot or by bike, not by car on the track. You can also do only part of it, with paths leading to the beach. To prepare your visit, plan to bring something to drink, especially in summer: the shade of the pine forest is welcome, but the entrances and sections near the shore can be exposed to the sun.

Here, there is no need to play the hurried wild boar piglets: the small detours are better than a jog-through.
