What is a recommended itinerary for visiting Monte Argentario in one day?

For a day focused on nature and swimming, start with the reserve of Feniglia, then go through Porto Ercole et termine à Porto Santo Stefano taking the panoramic road, if you have a car. In the morning, walk or pedal under the pines of Feniglia — the path is about 6 km — and choose a spot on the beach for a swim. In summer, arrive early: the car parks near the entrances can fill up quickly.

Déjeune à Porto Ercole, then keep about an hour for its old port and its narrow streets. In the afternoon, take the Strada Panoramica towards Porto Santo Stefano: allow around 25 km between the two towns, but more with photo stops; the road is winding, so don't plan to cover it at a running pace. Finish with a stroll along the seafront of Porto Santo Stefano. If you prefer a cove to the villages, replace Feniglia with Cala del Gesso, but be aware that access is on foot via a steep path: this is not a beach where you simply get out of the car. In one day, it is better to choose just one real swim rather than going from cove to cove.

The real luxury in Argentario is not chasing after the spots: let a viewpoint or a narrow street slow you down, even if the schedule falls a little behind.
